Janna Smith

Janna Smith has over 15 years experience in the video game industry. Working as an in-house attorney for over 12 years, she has extensive experience drafting key enterprise deals, OEM, commercial and technology transactions and other necessary legal documents. She is able to provide our clients with a broad spectrum of legal advice to product, engineering, and business teams including on worldwide intellectual property, open source, product development, trade secret, HR, immigration, marketing, and litigation matters. Janna has developed global legal policies and procedures and provided regulatory advice, with an emphasis on international data privacy and security.

Janna has provided strategic legal guidance to our clients identifying, defining and driving proactive legal strategy and advising and providing on-going legal support for worldwide operations. Well-versed in complex commercial contracts, Janna also acts as a key legal advisor on numerous business transactions including drafting, negotiating and providing legal advice related to SaaS and software technology licensing, partner & OEM agreements, data privacy and security addendums, and other commercial agreements, including high-impact enterprise agreements.

She has provided critical legal advice to executive management, product, engineering, and security teams, on changing international privacy laws and other relevant regulatory frameworks, including with regard to privacy by design, EU-US data transfers, and COPPA. Janna also provides legal advice on IP matters, including creating and managing an IP docket, enforcing existing IP rights, and working with external counsel to extend trademark and patent protections.
